Nasty C Explains Why He Pulled Back from the U.S. Market, Focuses on Africa & Europe
South African rap sensation Nasty C has revealed that his decision to slow down on pursuing the American market was a deliberate and strategic move.
When asked about the shift in focus, the rapper responded without hesitation:
“Yes, it’s intentional. We had to give it a try, we had these ambitions, but then reality kinda just hit you in the face sometimes.”
While many artists view the U.S. as the ultimate career goal, Nasty C admitted that chasing that dream meant sidelining other important opportunities. He realized that he shouldn’t neglect the strong fan bases he had already built elsewhere for the sake of breaking into the American industry.
“You kinda realize I shouldn’t be neglecting this one market and chasing this market because it is the one that everyone thinks is the one.”
After reassessing his strategy, Nasty C and his team decided to focus on regions where they already had strong support, particularly in Africa and Europe.
“We took a step back, looked at all the places that we went to and did our own shows. I think that’s how you test your imprint in the market – you do your own show.”
He also highlighted the massive reception he received during his European tour, proving that these markets hold significant potential.
“We did a tour last year there (Europe). It’s crazy.”
With a renewed strategy, Nasty C is now prioritizing regions where his impact is undeniable, ensuring that his music continues to thrive on a global scale.
