Kenyan comedian and model Elsa Majimbo has sparked a debate by explaining why she doesn't provide financial support to her extended family. In a recent video shared on social media platform X, Majimbo expressed her frustration with what she sees as an unfair expectation for successful family members to share their income.
Majimbo shared that growing up, she observed her father frequently sending money to his extended family, a practice she strongly dislikes. She finds it unreasonable for family members to rely on others instead of taking responsibility for their own financial well-being.
She recounted a personal experience where a distant relative who had often asked her father for money also approached her with the same request. Majimbo refused, criticizing the relative for what she perceived as laziness and a sense of entitlement.
“There’s this one extended family member who used to ask my dad for money, and then she texted me asking for the same. I refused because I’m not going to support habits that I believe are unfair,” Majimbo said.
Her candid remarks have led to mixed reactions online. Some people support her stance, saying it's time to challenge traditional expectations, while others feel she lacks compassion for her family
