Rapper Khaligraph Jones recently shared that he had lost faith in the current political leaders due to issues like heavy taxes, corruption, and neglect of the common people. However, he now feels hopeful again because of the actions of the Gen Z movement.
When Kenyans used social media to urge MPs not to pass the controversial Finance Bill 2024, some MPs stubbornly pushed it through as the President wanted. Yet, the efforts of Gen Z eventually pressured the President to send the bill back to Parliament.
Unlike past protests, the Gen Z protests in Nairobi spread across the country. For the first time, protesters entered the Parliament building, forcing MPs to flee. This significant event made Jones believe that real change is possible.
Jones expressed his gratitude, saying, "Protests have happened before, but Gen Z did something different this time. I had lost hope, but their persistent and growing movement gave me hope again. I am thankful to see this change."
Jones is happy to witness a collective effort by Kenyans, without a single leader, fighting against government oppression.
