Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently shared that his two sons had advised him against supporting President William Ruto before the 2022 general elections.
While speaking in Bomet on Sunday, Gachagua explained that his sons were worried about the challenges he faced for backing Ruto’s presidential bid, which was against the wishes of the sitting president.
“When we supported President William Ruto’s bid, we faced numerous challenges and opposition from the government in power,” Gachagua said. “My sons saw the difficulties I encountered and feared it could jeopardize our family and assets.”
Gachagua mentioned that his sons, along with their mother Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, held a meeting to discuss the potential harm to their family caused by his political stance.
“At that meeting, my sons expressed their fears that my political alignment could harm our family and lead to the loss of property,” Gachagua continued. “I presented my arguments in favor of supporting Ruto, and with the support of my wife, we took a vote. The decision was evenly split, but as the head of the household, I made the final call to stand with President William Ruto.”
Gachagua shared these reflections after attending a church service at Deliverance Church International in Kaplong, Bomet County.
