He was speaking on July, 24 as Cadbury marked 200 years The comedian recently launched his first book titled, 'Whispers From My Childhood' talking about his childhood memories. In one episode, the father of two recounted how he once led a gang of two to a neighbor’s farm, where they cut down banana trees. He explained that he had taken his brother and cousin to the forest to showcase his new tree-felling skills, which he had learned from a village feller. Armed with a hacksaw, Njugush and his companions encountered a neighborhood child named Kanyiri, whom they decided to bring along before invading the boy's grandmother’s farm. At the farm, he methodically cut down the banana trees one after another until late in the evening when they decided to postpone the activity until the following day. “That evening, Kanyiri's grandmother came to visit. We were having tea, and the tea suddenly became tasteless upon seeing her. She did not even waste time with small talk; she shot straight to reporting how we had vandalized her farm,” he recalls. “That evening, we experienced what my people call ‘Kanyoni wa Ng'ethe.’ Little brother and I received thorough flogging in turns, and then, just as a reminder that I was never to mislead Kadugu again, Mother gave me an extra beating,” he adds.
