NMG journalist Rukia Bulle has been ranked by TikTok as one of the top Breaking Barriers and Amplifying Voices content creators in 2024.
In its 2024 annual wrap-up report, TikTok ranked Bulle among the top emerging transformative platforms for creators who are significantly reshaping the cultural, social, and economic landscape of Kenya and the wider East African region through their content.
The journalist, who is currently based in London on a three-month secondment with the BBC, made the list thanks to her channel, which provides a behind-the-scenes look at the world of journalism. Through her unique storytelling, she simplifies the complex world of news reporting and shows her followers what it takes to create a compelling story from the ground up. Her account continues to grow and currently has over 116,000 followers.
In August this year, Ms. Bulle was announced as the 2024 winner of the prestigious BBC Komla Dumor Awards, becoming the third Kenyan to win the award since its inception in 2015 in honor of the late Ghanaian broadcaster and BBC journalist Komla Dumor.
As part of the award, the multimedia journalist, who reports for NTV and Daily Nation, will spend three months working with the BBC News team in London across TV, radio, and online, gaining valuable experience, mentorship, and other opportunities.

Tech influencer Roy Kanyi also makes the list of top Amplifying Voices content creators. Roy, who is also an educator, uses his platform to simplify the tech world for everyday users with his reviews of gadgets and tech products that have helped his audience make informed choices in an increasingly digital world.
