During the recent ceremony where Eldoret was officially conferred city status, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had the audience laughing with his candid and humorous remarks. Speaking at the Eldoret Sports Club, Gachagua joked about how he missed the chance to invest in Eldoret before it became a city, which has now led to increased real estate prices.
Gachagua recounted that while President William Ruto had made strategic investments in both Nairobi and Eldoret, he himself was left behind. He light-heartedly admitted, “Mimi kwa hii maneno ya city nimeenda hasara kidogo kwa sababu nilizubaa,” meaning he lost out on the opportunity because he was slow to act.
Despite this setback, Gachagua assured the audience that he would adjust his plans accordingly and continue to support the development of Eldoret. The crowd appreciated his humor, which added a lively touch to the significant event celebrating Eldoret’s new city status.
The ceremony was a moment of pride for the local residents and dignitaries, marking a new chapter for Eldoret with promising opportunities and challenges ahead.
