Adidja Palmer, widely known as Vybz Kartel, was recently released from prison by the Jamaican Court of Appeal. Following his release, an old video of him discussing his beliefs resurfaced.
In the video, Kartel denied rumors that he had sold his soul to the devil. He questioned how someone might do this, saying, “I'd like to know how selling souls to the devil goes. Is it like an advert where you announce 'soul for sale' and the devil writes a cheque?”
Kartel also confirmed that he was a Freemason but insisted that there is nothing wrong with it. He explained that Freemasonry is about building and connecting with the world.
He further stated that he does not follow any religion, including Christianity, Buddhism, or Islam. He believes that religion causes division among people, saying, “Religion is division. Religious wars are the most violent in history,” referencing events like the 9/11 attacks.
Kartel expressed that he values life above all and finds the Rastafari movement more acceptable. Many fans reacted positively to his comments, praising his perspective and celebrating his release.
Vybz Kartel was freed on July 31, 2024, after spending 13 years in prison for murder. He and three other men were originally convicted in 2014 for the murder of Clive "Lizard"
