Bishop Johana, a well-known Akorino preacher, has passed away after a brief illness. His wife, Mary Wanjiku, confirmed that he died on August 8 at Nakuru Provincial General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with meningitis following severe headaches.
Bishop Johana, whose real name was Danson Gichuhi, gained fame earlier this year due to a controversial healing ritual that went viral. This video showed him performing a deliverance session, which sparked much debate and concern over the appropriateness of his actions.
In the footage, the Bishop was seen using anointing oil on a female congregant's stomach, leading to accusations of misconduct. In response to the backlash, he defended his actions, explaining that he aimed to help the woman resolve her marital issues and was conducting a spiritual deliverance.
Despite the controversy surrounding him, Bishop Johana was dedicated to his ministry and believed his intentions were pure. His family is now preparing for his funeral, and he leaves behind a wife and four children
