Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, recently met his Kenyan look-alike, Ruger wa Kayole, for the first time during his visit to Kenya for the Raha Fest.
A Memorable Encounter
Ruger, who appeared on Citizen TV’s 10Over10, was pleasantly surprised by the striking resemblance between him and Ruger wa Kayole. The Kenyan impersonator has become an online sensation by mimicking Ruger's music, style, and signature eyepatch look. Ruger expressed his appreciation for Ruger wa Kayole's admiration and dedication.
Embracing the Imitation
During an interview with BBC Entertainment, Ruger spoke about his acceptance of his Kenyan impersonator. He emphasized that Ruger wa Kayole was simply trying to make a living and promote his music. "He’s promoting my songs in a way because he’s not making his songs and saying that’s Ruger who made the songs; he’s singing mine. At the end of the day, they’ll go back to their house and stream the songs. That’s the most important thing. I beg everybody should calm down," Ruger said.

Ruger is in Nairobi for his first show in the city, which has warmly embraced his music. He thanked Kenyans for their support throughout his career. His previous visit saw him perform in Meru, and fans have been eagerly waiting for his performance in Nairobi.
