The Egerton University community is in deep mourning after the tragic deaths of two female students, Vivian Nasimiyu Wekesa and Hannah Wambui, who passed away within hours of each other.
Vivian, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Education student, succumbed to a long illness on August 8, 2024. Her passing has left a significant void among her peers and lecturers. She will be laid to rest in her home village in Bungoma on August 17.
Hannah, a second-year student, tragically lost her life in a road accident on August 7, 2024. Her funeral is scheduled for August 15 in Murang'a County.
The deaths of these two young women have sent shockwaves through the university, with students and faculty expressing their grief and condolences. Many have taken to social media to share their sorrow, with one student saying, "Rest in eternal, perfect peace, comrade."
