Mbaitu FM's beloved radio presenter, Mercy Mawia, passed away recently, leaving her fans and family heartbroken. Her husband, Mwangi, has opened up about the cause of her death and the challenges they faced together.
Mercy’s Battle with Illness
Mwangi shared that Mercy had been battling blood clots in her abdomen for two years. Despite her illness, she continued to work, entertain, and smile. Her condition required constant medical attention, and she was frequently hospitalized at Nairobi Hospital.
A Risky Pregnancy
The couple had been trying to have a baby for eight years. Three months after her diagnosis, Mercy found out she was pregnant. Even though it was a high-risk pregnancy due to her health condition, they decided to proceed with the best medical care available. They hoped to carry the baby to term despite the difficulties.
The Final Days
As the pregnancy progressed, Mercy and Mwangi underwent numerous ultrasounds to monitor the baby's health. Tragically, Mercy’s uterus ruptured, and she suffered a cardiac arrest, leading to her death. She was five months pregnant at the time.
Memorial and Final Moments
At her memorial, Mwangi described Mercy as a fighter who stayed strong until her last breath. He remembered her dedication to her work and her bravery in facing her illness.
Mercy’s Last Post
In her last Facebook post, Mercy expressed her disappointment at missing a friend's wedding due to her health. She asked her fans to pray for her, a poignant reminder of her ongoing struggle.
Mercy Mawia will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and the joy she brought to her listeners and loved ones
