Actor and comedian Kazungu Matano, popularly known as Captain Otoyo, says the reason he has been missing in the showbiz limelight is because he took time off to enjoy the fortune he made from the industry. Since the end of Churchill Show in 2020 (which resumes next month on NTV) and his departure from radio, Matano has been leading a quiet life away from the public eye. The witty man who rose to prominence via the one time popular TV show Papa Shirandula before venturing into stand-up comedy on Churchill show as well as his own stand and also radio, says he took time away to reflect on his successes from the entertainment industry, enjoy his fortune and venture into other things he didn’t want to specify. “I realised I had made so much money and needed to enjoy otherwise I might leaving people behind fighting over it yet they have no idea how hard I worked for it. So I took time to go and spend my money,” Captain Otoyo chuckles. Although the creativity bug still bites, Otoyo feels he is at a point in life where he needs to open up a new chapter in his life. “I would love to venture into other things especially now that I feel like I have fair experience in life. I think it would be a nice challenge to myself,” he adds.
